Outreach

The Jewett lab participates in numerous outreach activities. Of note, we worked with Northwestern’s Office of STEM Education Partnerships to develop a vibrant outreach program to provide Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) from Chicago Public Schools (CPS). This led to the creation of BioBits kits, freeze-dried, cell-free kits for teaching synthetic biology. Other example activities include:

  • HerStory: A History of Females in Science, interactive program hosted at Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry
  • Jugando Con La Ciencia, science outreach for Spanish-speakers in Evanston, IL
  • Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) High School Initiative Program
